The Injury Prevention Centre aims to reduce injuries causing the greatest level of harm across the province and increase the knowledge and capacity of Albertans and communities to address injuries. Priority areas for action are based on Alberta data, identified gaps in existing injury prevention action and emerging trends or injury issues.
Priority Areas
- Promoting agricultural safety to reduce the rate of deaths and serious injury in the farming population.
- Reducing the incidence and severity of falls among elderly adults (65+ years of age).
- Addressing emerging injury issues with consideration of the unique Alberta context.
- Poisoning prevention to reduce the incidence and severity of unintentional poisoning among children ages 0-9 years old.
