Alberta Traffic Safety Network (ATSN)

The Alberta Traffic Safety Network (ATSN) is a collaborative group of Alberta organizations, associations, coalitions, and individuals all dedicated to traffic safety. While many of these entities operate independently, they recognize the immense power of working together to tackle the multifaceted challenges of traffic safety in our province.

Traffic-related injuries are a significant concern in Alberta, leading to deaths, hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and long-term disabilities. Addressing this complex issue effectively requires a coordinated approach.

Purpose of the ATSN.

ATSN aims to:

  • Build and Maintain a Collaborative Network: Foster strong connections among traffic safety stakeholders.
  • Create Consistency and Reduce Duplication: Streamline efforts in traffic safety advocacy and initiatives.
  • Enhance Learning and Knowledge Sharing: Provide opportunities for members to learn from one another, particularly in areas like evaluation, surveillance, and research.
  • Act as a Conduit for Information: Share resources, programming, and funding sources to support traffic safety efforts.
  • Collaborate on Traffic Safety Issues: Work together on regional and provincial traffic safety concerns.
  • Support a Critical Mass of Stakeholders: Develop a strong collective of traffic safety professionals to make a significant positive impact on preventing traffic-related injuries in Alberta.

"Excellent partners in injury prevention. Thank you for keeping the effort going!"

What we do.

ATSN members regularly connect to discuss common challenges and pursue joint ventures aimed at reducing traffic-related injuries and enhancing the safety of all Albertans. We share information grounded in evidence, practical experience, and valuable lessons learned from our collective work.

How ATSN Operates.

The Network is currently supported by the Injury Prevention Centre and the Alberta Health Services, Provincial Injury Prevention Program. We typically hold meetings three to four times a year. Decisions within the Network are made through a consensus of the membership, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued.

ATSN membership.

Membership in ATSN is open to traffic safety partners who are committed to ongoing involvement and regular attendance at meetings. If you're an organization, association, coalition, or individual with a vested interest in traffic safety in Alberta, we encourage you to connect with us.
